Cancellation Policy

At Axiom Academy, we understand that life happens and plans sometimes change. This policy ensures fairness for both students and tutors while helping us maintain consistent, high-quality lessons.

Arranged Lessons

An arranged lesson is any lesson agreed upon by the tutor and student (in-person or online), including regular ongoing lessons. Once a lesson is scheduled, it is considered confirmed unless cancelled according to this policy.

Cancelling a Lesson

Most of our tutors are fully dependent on their sessions with their students as their primary source of income, so we ask you to respect this by honouring the following:

  • If a student needs to cancel, please notify the tutor as soon as possible.

  • Cancellations with 24+ hours’ notice: No fee will apply, and the lesson can be rescheduled. It will not use up a class in the 10-class package.

  • Cancellations within 24 hours or no-shows: A fee of 100% of the lesson cost will apply (i.e. a class in the 10-class package will be utilised, even though no lesson has been provided.)

We set these guidelines to ensure tutors’ time is respected while allowing flexibility for genuine emergencies.

We understand that in many situations this might be unavoidable – your child may leave school sick or there may be a sudden emergency preventing the session from happening.

In this situation, please contact your tutor directly as soon as possible. Whilst they still maintain the right to charge you for the session, in most cases, they will be happy just to reschedule for another time that week.

Tutor Cancellations

  • If a tutor cancels for any reason, the lesson will be rescheduled at no cost.

  • If the cancellation is last-minute and causes inconvenience, we will work with you to arrange an alternative time within the same term or during the immediate school holidays.

Replacement Lessons

  • Lessons cancelled with proper notice (24+ hours) may be rescheduled within the term (preferably that week), depending on tutor availability.

  • We encourage students to maintain consistency, as regular lessons are the most effective way to improve.

Why We Have This Policy

Our goal is to keep tutoring consistent, ensuring that students benefit fully from each term and that our highly skilled tutors’ time is respected. Following this policy helps students progress faster and maintain momentum in their learning.

Extended Absences & Ending Tuition

If you or your child are going away for an extended period, please notify both us and your tutor at least 2 weeks in advance (email: enquiries@axiomtutoring.com.au). This allows us to organise a replacement student for your tutor during your absence.

Similarly, if your tutor is away for more than 2 weeks, we will arrange a replacement tutor to ensure your child’s learning continues uninterrupted.

If you no longer require tuition, please let us know at least 2 weeks before your proposed final session. We can communicate this to your tutor on your behalf.

These requests help ensure tutors are respected and supported. Tutoring isn’t just the time spent in the lesson — tutors invest time before each session planning and preparing to maximise your child’s learning. Giving adequate notice ensures they feel valued and that lessons remain consistent and effective.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
